Welcome to Karly Rayner Psychotherapy
I’m Karly (she/her), a registered and accredited art psychotherapist and EMDR Practitioner.
I am a queer and neurodivergent therapist who specialises in working in the following areas:
Abuse and trauma
Neurodiversity
Exploring LGBTQ+ identity, including issues around sexuality and/or gender identity
Depression and feelings of hopelessness, loneliness or loss
Self esteem
Anxiety, stress and hyper-vigilance
I offer a safe, affirming and non-judgemental space for all and strive to be anti-oppressive in my approach.
My journey to become an art psychotherapist began when I begrudgingly admitted that therapy does actually really help after stubbornly resisting speaking to a professional myself for many years. I passionately believe that art therapy can offer a powerful ‘other’ space where we can discover who we really are and what we really need away from the pressures of the day-to-day.
As a practitioner (and a person!), I would describe myself as warm, approachable, compassionate and endlessly curious.
Alongside my private practice, I am currently senior therapist at Share Psychotherapy. Previously, I was senior therapist at Sheffield Mind where I also managed their specialist domestic abuse counselling service.
My background with young people is in inclusion in mainstream schools and pupil referral units. I have many years of experience working alongside young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
